The Importance of PRayer
1. THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER
Prayer plays a vital role in our lives both as individuals and as members of a Church Group. It is one of the means by which we can express our love and admiration of a powerful, holy, merciful and faithful God.
Prayer is the channel by which we can confess our sins, both individually and collectively. By conversing with God in repentance we can be forgiven.
We can use prayer to thank God for the many and varied things and people He has provided for us. Part of our worship is to use prayer to thank God for his generosity to us.
Prayer is also a way to ask God for help, either for ourselves or for others. It can be physical, mental or spiritual help.
Prayer can be a time for reflection for the person praying. God will speak into our hearts.
2. PRAYER MINISTRY SERVICE
After every morning service prayer is available. Come to the front right of the Church where you will be met by two members of the Prayer Ministry Team. They will pray for any personal issue or concern you have for yourself or for some one you care about. All issues are held in strictest confidence. If you prefer, you will be offered a private place to meet.
On the 1st, 3rd and 5th Tuesday evenings at
3. SAMPLE PRAYER
Almighty God, our living heavenly Father we worship you as the one true, powerful and faithful God. You have made everything and you are the same yesterday, today and forever. You hear us and keep your promises to us. We confess our lack of dependence on you and ask forgiveness for our preoccupation with the things of this world. Help us to be humble and repent of the hurtful words we have spoken to and of others.
Thank you for food and clothes, friends and family and for gifted people around us.
Thank you for faithful preachers and teachers (past, present and future).
We pray for your Church world-wide.
Thank you for courageous and responsible people who spread the good news of our gift of new life in Jesus.
We pray for people motivated by the love of Jesus to serve the community as doctors, nurses and social workers.
Lastly we pray for ourselves that we may have the courage to follow wherever you lead and be assured of your promise never to leave us or forsake us.
Amen
